I'm proud that here we celebrate empowered women.
- Anna Iakovleva, Assistant Manager, Library Bar
What started as a part-time job during University has progressed into my full-time career since moving to Canada. Now 10 years in the hospitality industry, I have grown so much both personally and professionally, and I've worked with so many talented people. I joined Fairmont Royal York as an Outlet Supervisor during the hotel's major renovation project.
Following the hotel's grand transformation in 2019, I've had the opportunity to work on the opening teams of three new dining venues: Library Bar, REIGN, and CLOCKWORK Champagne & Cocktails. Our opening team was so supportive, and there were a few key people during this time who helped me shape my professional career. At the time, Alison Connelly was the Assistant Manager of Library Bar, and she always offered me advice and any help that I needed to succeed. Alison has pursued her next career step and joined the Sales and Catering team as the Executive Meeting Manager. Today, I am now the Assistant Manager of Library Bar, one of Toronto's most renowned cocktail dens.
During my time at Fairmont Royal York, I have learned how important inclusion is. As a leader, you have to understand different backgrounds and different personalities, and to encourage the strong talents of each individual. Our company has so much to offer, and I am eager to continue my journey and build my career with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Through Accor, I have the opportunity to work abroad and allow me the opportunity to enhance my work and life experience.
For International Women's Day, I am proud to celebrate empowered women, and to be a part of a group of women who inspire female leaders and celebrate their achievements.
